Lihnell’s Distillery, the Swedish whisky distillery, proudly presents its latest release: Bergatroll – Aged 13 Years, the second edition in its acclaimed “TROLL” series. Following the success of Skogstroll earlier this year, this new bottling continues Lihnell’s exploration of myth, nature, and craftsmanship in a bottle.
Distilled in Lillkyrka, Örebro County, Bergatroll is a Swedish single malt whisky matured in a unique combination of bourbon and champagne casks. Bottled at 52% ABV, this limited release is non chill-filtered and presented with natural color. Only 750 bottles have been produced, making it a true collector’s item.
Crafted by Master Blender Carl Lihnell, Bergatroll has spent 13 years developing a refined profile that balances light smokiness with layered complexity.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh and fruity with honeydew and grape notes. Subtle hints of vanilla and coconut are balanced by toasted almonds, orange zest, and a touch of floral sweetness.
Palate: Deep tones of vanilla, caramel, and ripe pears. A bright minerality adds freshness, supported by notes of licorice, winegum, and a whisper of salty salmiak.
Finish: Lightly smoky with warming spice and a long, mineral-driven depth.
The Bergatroll, like its folkloric namesake, evokes the majesty and mystery of the Nordic mountains. According to legend, these reclusive trolls dwell in caves and cliffs, shunning the noise of civilization. Some say they can be turned to stone by sunlight—an idea that inspired the dramatic imagery featured on the label.
Sales for Bergatroll open on May 5th, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
