Some collaborations feel manufactured. Others feel inevitable. The Great High Coast is the latter — a meeting between two northern Swedish forces: High Coast Whisky’s meticulous craftsmanship and Sqrtn Company’s raw, contemporary aesthetic. Together, they present a limited whisky and clothing collection rooted in a shared identity — one shaped by climate, landscape, and an uncompromising approach to quality.
But let’s begin where it matters most: in the glass.
100% Unpeated. 100% Character.
The Great High Coast is crafted from 100% unpeated whisky, matured exclusively in 1st fill Oloroso sherry casks (250 liters) — eight made from European oak and three from American oak.
Using only first-fill Oloroso casks is a bold and deliberate decision. First-fill means maximum cask influence: deeper color, richer fruit, and pronounced spice. There’s nowhere to hide. The oak and the spirit must work in harmony.
- European oak brings structure, darker spice notes, tannins, and a firm grip.
- American oak contributes softer vanilla tones, caramel sweetness, and roundness.
At bottling, the whisky was reduced to a precise 50.3% ABV — a strength chosen to preserve intensity and texture while maintaining balance. It’s powerful without being aggressive, structured without losing elegance.
Climate as a Co-Distiller
High Coast Distillery sits in one of Sweden’s most extreme whisky climates. Summers are warm. Winters are brutally cold. The dramatic seasonal temperature shifts force the spirit deep into the wood during summer expansion and pull it back during winter contraction.
This constant movement accelerates interaction between spirit and oak.
The result is a whisky with depth and clarity of identity:
Rich sherry character, dark dried fruits like raisins and dates, layered with nutty tones and baking spices. Despite the generous cask influence, the distillate’s freshness remains intact — providing structure, lift, and length.
This is not an over-oaked sherry bomb. It’s controlled, expressive, and balanced — shaped as much by climate as by cask.
The Northern Cowboy
The collaboration is built around the concept of the “Northern Cowboy” — a symbol of independence, closeness to nature, and an uncompromising passion for craft.
High Coast Whisky and Sqrtn Company developed the visual identity together — from bottle and packaging to the garments in the collection. The design language is clean but rugged, rooted rather than trendy. No unnecessary details. No excess.

Just like the whisky, every element serves a purpose.
Sqrtn Company’s collection reflects the same environment that shaped the spirit:
- Earthy, natural color palettes
- Durable materials
- Graphic elements tied to northern landscapes and storytelling
It’s a parallel interpretation of the same place — one expressed in fabric, the other in oak and spirit.
More Than a Product
This collaboration goes deeper than co-branding. Both companies share northern Swedish roots and a deep respect for craftsmanship. That common foundation is evident in both taste and design.
For High Coast, craftsmanship means careful distillation, thoughtful yeast selection, deliberate cask strategy, and an understanding of how climate drives maturation.
For Sqrtn Company, it means considered design, material integrity, and an aesthetic grounded in identity rather than trend.
Together, they’ve created something cohesive — a shared narrative told through liquid and textile.
Final Thoughts
The Great High Coast is not smoky. It’s not experimental for the sake of experimentation. It doesn’t try to shout.
Instead, it stands firm — structured, sherry-driven, and confidently northern. Bottled at 50.3% ABV to retain its integrity, matured in first-fill Oloroso casks, and shaped by one of Europe’s most extreme whisky climates.
It is, quite simply, a sense of place — captured in a bottle.
And worn on your sleeve.
