The world’s best whisky is Swedish!

The Swedish High Coast Distillery has been recognized for producing the world’s best whisky at this year’s prestigious World Whiskies Awards with its exclusive release, Distillery Exclusive 11. The distillery has previously been awarded multiple times in the Swedish whisky category but has now won gold for the first time in competition with whiskies from around the world.

The international competition, considered the most prestigious in the whisky industry, gathers whisky connoisseurs and competing distilleries from all over the world.

“We are incredibly proud that Distillery Exclusive 11 has received this recognition. The whisky in this series is carefully selected for our distillery visitors and captures the essence of the inviting and social quality experience that High Coast Distillery stands for,” says Roger Melander, Master Distiller.

Distillery Exclusive 11, awarded in the category “Single Cask Single Malt 12 Years and Under,” is a peated whisky that has been aged for 10 years in bourbon casks. Visitors have had the opportunity to hand-bottle the whisky at the distillery, which features flavors characterized by coconut and vanilla with notes of apple and pear.

“High Coast Distillery is still a relatively young distillery, and the fact that we are already producing something that whisky connoisseurs call the world’s best whisky is inspiring for the coming years’ bottlings of even more mature whisky. Then, we will truly amaze the whisky world,” says Roger Melander.

With this award, High Coast Distillery confirms its position as a producer of high-quality whisky—not only in Sweden but worldwide.

The award was presented at the annual gala in London on Wednesday evening, see https://www.worldwhiskiesawards.com/
