The Swedish whisky distillery on Gotland is proud to introduce two new limited editions, each steeped in local character and crafted with a deep respect for the island’s unique heritage: Lergrav and Bjärge. These small-batch whiskies reflect Gotland’s rugged coastal beauty, storied rauk formations, and the distillery’s commitment to quality and place-driven storytelling.
Following the popular release of last summer’s Sjaustru, which captured the essence of Gotland’s sunlit shoreline, the distillery now explores contrasting elements — smoke, stone, and forest with Lergrav, and fruit, wine, and coastal wilds with Bjärge.
Lergrav – A Smoky Tribute to Northern Gotland’s Limestone Legacy
Named after the rauk-rich area of Lergrav on northern Gotland, Lergrav is a 7-year-old lightly peated single malt whisky. It’s a sensory homage to the island’s natural sculptures and historical lime kilns — places where stone and smoke intertwine in both landscape and memory.
Crafted from the Gotland Whisky’s “more smoky” recipe, the whisky began its journey with a 5-month “boost” maturation on fresh charred Swedish oak before spending over 6 years in a mix of second-fill bourbon and charred American oak casks. The result is a complex profile of sooty citrus and sweet ash, with layered notes of vanilla, honey, and liquorice root.
Tasting Notes – Lergrav

Nose: Soot, honey, citrus
Palate: Ash, smoke, vanilla, toffee
Finish: Oak, black pepper, sweet liquorice – medium length
Bjärge – The Distillery’s First Red Wine Cask Experiment
Bjärge, a 6-year-old single malt, marks the distillery’s first venture into red wine cask maturation — a bold and nuanced expression named after the rauk fields of Bjärge on Fårö, where ancient coral formations meet the wind-swept coast.
This whisky is a blend of six carefully selected casks — including Sangiovese red wine barrels from northern Italy and second-fill bourbon casks, all finished on Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for added depth. Bjärge balances the vinous acidity of red wine with notes of herbs, dark berries, and chocolate, offering a rounded and sophisticated profile.
Tasting Notes – Bjärge
Color: Tawny (1.4) – Brown-yellow
Nose: Wine-like, vanilla, almond
Palate: Dark cherries, thyme, rosemary
Finish: Dark chocolate, berries, tart and tannic – medium length
Both whiskies exemplify the distillery’s approach to terroir and experimentation — from native oak cask aging to carefully curated finishes. Whisky lovers who enjoyed last year’s Sjaustru will find Lergrav and Bjärge to be deeper, bolder companions that speak to other facets of Gotland’s spirit and story.
